IN DEVELOPMENT:

THE UNTITLED-FILIPINO AMERICAN PROJECT

Devised in collaboration with Nathaniel P. Claridad and Jasmin Malave.

A theatrical exploration of what it means to be Filipino-American using historical texts, research—including the study of pre- and post-colonial Philippine art forms—and weaving it into modern times via interviews with people who identify as Filipino-American.  Also, there's food.

Selected for the First Stage Residency at The Drama League, New York City, 2019.

THE LIGHTHOUSE, by Yukio Mishima

Directed by Benny Sato Ambush, English translation by Mishima scholar Laurence Kominz. Produced by Marissa Carpio.

Unspoken desire breaks the surface of a post-war family's placid life in Mishima's passionate drama from 1949.  The Lighthouse is one of Mishima’s most frequently performed one-act plays in Japan. The play is written as a shingeki, a Japanese theater form based on modern realism.
